How to Troubleshoot SFC is Unable to Fix Corrupt Files Error

SFC Scan is one of the most useful and essential inbuilt tools in Windows operating systems. The System File Checker scan detects the damaged or corrupted files in Windows and is responsible for repairing them. But unfortunately, there are times when the SFC scan doesn’t work properly and shows the scan result with a statement saying that the SFC scan detected corrupted files but was unable to repair some of those files. Well, there are some methods and workarounds to troubleshoot the problem and have SFC begin repairing the damaged files again.

Here is how to troubleshoot SFC is unable to fix corrupt files error

Start Windows 10 in Safe Mode

First, click the Start menu button and click the power button.
Now, proceed to Restart the system.
Choose the Troubleshoot and go to Advanced options.
Now, go to Startup Settings.
Click the Restart button and select Enable Safe Mode.
Now you have to log into Windows.
Click open the Start menu and type cmd.
Right click on cmd in the search results and select Command Prompt.
Select Admin from the main menu.
Type sfc /scannow and press enter button.
The sfc should bring the desired results.

Try using DISM

Run Command Prompt as administrator.
Click the Yes button when the User Account Control window appears.
Type the command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth.
Now, press the Enter button.
Restart your computer and log into the Windows system.
Again right click on the Command Prompt and open as Administrator.
Type sfc /scannow and press the Enter button from your keyboard.

Try DISM and Windows 10 ISO Method

Open the web browser in your computer.
Visit the https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/.
Click to Download Tool Now tab from the web page.
Now launch the media creation tool and click Accept.
Select Create Installation media (USB flash drive, DVD or ISO file) for another PC.
Click on Next and select the language, edition, and architecture.
Click Next and select ISO file.
Proceed to click Next and select a location to save the Windows.iso file.
Click the Save button.
The media creation will download the Windows 10 iso file which will take some time.
When the download is over, extract or unzip the ISO file in the system.
Open the Sources folder and find install.wim file.
Right click on it and open menu.
Select Copy from the menu.
Go to the desktop and paste the copied file.
Now, create a new folder and rename it as Mount.
Run the Command Prompt as Administrator.
Click yes when the User Account Control appears.
Now type the command “Dism /mount-wim /wimFile:%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\install.wim /index:1 /MountDir:%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\mount” and press the Enter button.
Now type the command “Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth” and press the Enter button.
Type the command “Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\mount\windows /LimitAccess” and press Enter.
Wait for 10 minutes and the progress will be stuck for 20% which is common and wait until it gets 100% completed.
Now, type the command “Dism /unmount-wim /Mountdir:%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\mount /discard” and press the Enter button.
If you find any error, then type the command “Dism /cleanup-wim” and press enter.
Now type the command sfc /scannow and press the Enter button.

With these methods, you can fix the problem that appears while running an SFC scan in the command prompt of the Windows 10 system. The error will be fixed when you follow the methods to troubleshoot the problem.

ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR

You may have received this error message possibly when attempting to access particular web pages that are integrated with Google such as YouTube or Gmail. However, some of the other websites can also be targeted sometime. You see this message usually when the URL is down. If you know that the site is not down but still see the same note, you may need to fix further.

Fixing ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR

#1 Disable QUIC Protocol

As said by Wikipedia, QUIC is an experimental transport layer network protocol available in Google Chrome for establishing a connection between two endpoints over UDP. If something is wrong with the development side, you are more likely to get this error message while opening any website in Google Chrome. Thus, you can try disabling this experimental protocol in your browser and then check whether the issue remains or not.

Open the Google Chrome and enter this in the address bar:
- chrome://flags/
After that, you need to search for Experimental QUIC protocol.
Doing so will now set it to Default.
You have to expand the drop-down menu and then select Disable/Turn off.
Now, simply restart the browser and see if it works for you.

#2 Turn VPN/Proxy off when logging into your ISP’s account

Some of the ISPs are there, by which a particular method is used to differentiate user accounts. For security reasons, they contain a login prompt before the user can actually start using the internet.

If you have both username and password, you need to login first.

How to Delete ‘Other’ Files from iOS Devices

The iOS devices have an ‘Other’ category working as device storage for keeping the cache memory, setting preferences, messages, etc. At times the ‘Other’ files and data takes up too much storage space in the device resulting in the performance. Thus, it gets necessary to find the ‘Other’ files in the device. Check the Storage Space in iOS Device

Open Settings app in your device.

Clear the Cache and Offline Reading List

Open Settings app in the iOS device.
Go to General tab and tap on the device Storage.
Navigate to Safari and proceed to Website data.
Tap on it and scroll down to select Remove all Website Data.
Find Offline Reading List and swipe left on the option.
Now, tap the Delete button.
Go back to the storage list to see that Safari is not showing any data.

iOS 11 and later versions have made it easier to clean up the cache. New versions of iOS are allowing the users to choose the auto-delete option to delete the message conversations. Also, the user can review the attachments with emails messages to remove them from the device.
